star rating  We have been to The Guild a few times. It has usually been OK, but this time it wasn't. We were looking forward to starting our meal with a dozen... read more oysters, but they had 'run out' -- at 6pm on Friday? So we ordered some scallops instead. The scallop meat was OK, but the soy sauce based marinade was somewhat overpowering -- we wondered why anyone would want to smother the flavour of scallops, and why an Italian restaurant would choose to do that with soy sauce. For our mains we had the braised lamb shank and the seafood linguine, with a side order of mixed vegetables. The lamb shank and the vegetables were OK, but the seafood linguine was barely edible -- the only decent thing in it was the vongole; the rest of the seafood had the taste and texture of discarded trimmings, particularly the calamari. We have had much better meals elsewhere in the area for what we paid at The Guild last Friday. We probably won't go back.

star rating  Initially the waitress was most engaging and helpful. I ordered the angus eye fillet and asked it to be cooked medium. I also asked if the dish came with accompaniments,... read more other than potato. Yes it came with broccoli and beetroot, so I did not need to order a side plate of vegetables. My eye fillet was not tender and under cooked, especially in the middle. No vegetables on the plate either. We did not see the waitress again, after she left the dessert menus. The restaurant was not overly busy. My partner's grilled seafood plate was a winner. I'd go back and try their italian cuisine. The takeaway pizzas seemed to do well. Ambience was lovely. Friends at another table all enjoyed their pasta dishes.

star rating  We stumbled upon this little gem whilst visiting Milton one day recently whilst holidaying in Mollymook. We happened upon the kitchen which is a completely seperate entity from the restaurant... read more and was really impressed by the food being prepared for later that evening. The Chef who we later learned came from Liguria told us all about the new menu and we were so excited we booked a table for the following evening. Married to an Italian and having traveled many times to Italy and lover of all Italian foods- this restaurant delivered one of the best meals ever. There was so much choice and we over indulged just to try some of the many dishes. We started with oysters cooked in the wood fired oven with pancetta and balsamic vinegar an Italian spin on kilpatrick which was very tasty and 3 quenelles of a whipped potato and red cod served with roasted cherry tomato and a salsa verde. Followed by a shared bowl of risotto al tartufo or truffles from chef/owner Stefano’s family in Italy. Perfectly cooked in a rich and earthy porcini and truffle cream. I’m sure there were a few more ingredients but I can only say OMG to die for!! Followed with the grilled fish platter for my husband. I couldn’t decide so I left it to the chef who delivered the best ever homemade squid ink spaghetti with a seafood mince and prawns. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was an ode to the sea. They also make pizza which looked fabulous from their wood fired pizza oven. We had no room for coffee or dessert. But next time for sure. Could not recommend anything better for a lovely evening with some of the best Italian food. Look forward to the next trip down to enjoy another meal.
